Your Lifetime Star count tracks how many Stars you've collected since the beginning of the feature and is the count that is used when applying to Clubs with minimum Star requirements. It is not impacted by if you're in a Club or not.
There is also a seasonal Star count, which tracks how many Stars you've accumulated while in your Club during the season. This starts at 0 when you join the Club.
At the start of the week (Monday morning PST), the seasonal Stars collected by all Club members are totaled, and that number is used to determine the Club's seasonal reward, and if it changes tiers. Then a new season starts, and everyone's seasonal Stars are set back to 0.
If you leave a Club, your seasonal Star count will return to 0. Your lifetime Star count will not be impacted.
