When you have used up your Extra Life (♥) a timer will appear letting you know when your next Extra Life is available to use. If you answer a question incorrectly and don't have your Extra Life available, you will be given the option to spend Gems to Continue.

 

Please note that using Gems to continue will reset the Extra Life timer.
