Challenging levels do not increase the Golden Apples earned from ongoing Streaks.

When the level is complete, then you will receive extra Apples. These can be seen on the "Level Complete" screen as depicted below:

You must complete the level at the Challenging difficulty to receive the extra Apples. If you switch it back to normal, they will be forfeit.
